The Sumner Stingrays will head out on the road to take on the Wesley Chapel Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Sumner will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Robinson on Thursday. The Stingrays put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 16-4 win. The Stingrays have beaten the Knights the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.
Sumner got a massive performance out of Karlee Salisbury, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs Salisbury has posted since back in March. Sa'Myra Cameron was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Sumner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Robinson only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Wesley Chapel sidestepped Cypress Creek for a 4-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Jazmin Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Wesley Chapel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall McCants, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Wesley Chapel now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Sumner, their record is now 14-9.
Sumner's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Stingrays have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game.
