Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Leesburg's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

Leesburg won against Eastside on Wednesday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets blew past the Rams 19-4. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Rachel Chiles made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hailey Toothaker was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kennadi Williams, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Leesburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only posted an OBP of .476.

Leesburg has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eastside, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leesburg will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Umatilla at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for Eastside, they will face off against Dunnellon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
