The Castaic Coyotes will take on the Hueneme Vikings in a holiday battle at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Castaic waltzed into their match Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Santa Fe by a score of 66-58. Given Castaic's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Santa Fe is ranked 1163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Hueneme didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Laguna Blanca on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 55-49 win. The win was just what Hueneme needed coming off of a 74-32 loss in their prior contest.
Chris Juanillo was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Richardson, who scored six points.
Castaic pushed their record up to 8-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Hueneme, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-9 record this season.
