After flying high against the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors last Friday, the Northside Christian Academy Knights came back down to earth. Northside Christian Academy took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Concord Academy on Tuesday. Northside Christian Academy found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 16 to 9 on offense.
Despite the defeat, Northside Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: JaKaila Gaskin dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amani Womack, who scored six points.
Northside Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Concord Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justice Alexander, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Alexander hasn't dropped below 15points for eight straight games. Samantha Meyers was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals and two blocks.
Northside Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Concord Academy, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside Christian Academy will face off against Hickory Grove Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hickory Grove Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for Concord Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Metrolina Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
