On Saturday, Ramona came up short against Valley Christian and fell 56-48. While losing is never fun, Ramona can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 690th, while Valley Christian is ranked 219th).
Ramona lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Daniel Penner, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Penner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Newman, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Ramona has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.
Ramona will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against San Marcos at 7:00 p.m. San Marcos is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Valley Christian, Valley Christian and Maranatha will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Maranatha has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 257 points over their last four contests.
