The Northside Grizzlies lost to the Har-Ber Wildcats back in February, but the Northside Grizzlies didn't allow the Har-Ber Wildcats the same satisfaction on Thursday. Northside snuck past Har-Ber with a 51-47 victory. Given Northside's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Har-Ber is ranked 37th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erianna Gooden, who scored 16 points along with five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Gooden has scored at least 25% of Northside's points. Erikka Gooden was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Northside is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Har-Ber, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Northside and Hillcrest will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Har-Ber will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rogers at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
