Richmond is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Yale is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Richmond got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over Armada.
While Yale didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Oxford with a sharp 12-5 win on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Macie McCormick (2027) made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Hunter Aguinaga (2028) was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Averi Crisenbery (2027) was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Yale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
The victory got Richmond back to even at 2-2. As for Yale, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
