Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Plano East walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Trinity Trojans on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.
Jadyn Dawson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cassandra Lupo, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Plano East's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
