The Versailles Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Eldon 57-20. While losing is never fun, Versailles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while the Mustangs are ranked 111th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eldon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydney Halderman, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. Halderman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Zoe Martonfi was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Versailles has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Eldon, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Versailles will head out on the road to face off against the Pintos at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eldon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
