Two dominant signal callers in Caden Henson - qb 2024 and Bryce Wickline are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Valley View Spartans will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Westfall Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Valley View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Westfall likes a good challenge.
Valley View pushed their score all the way to 40 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 49-40 to Waynesville.
The losing side was boosted by Henson - qb 2024, who rushed for 190 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 382 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. Henson - qb 2024 was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Another player making a difference was Micah Valenti, who picked up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Westfall entered their tilt with Piketon with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Westfall took down Piketon 56-39 on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Wickline was his usual excellent self, rushing for 157 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 229 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Wickline hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Trent Walters was another key contributor, picking up 110 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Westfall, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Valley View has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 409.2 total yards per game. However, it's not like Westfall struggles in that department as they've been even better at 427.4 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
