Last Thursday, Tacony Academy Charter took a serious blow against Benjamin Franklin, falling 77-47. Tacony Academy Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-20.
Meanwhile, Roxborough entered their tilt with Thomas A. Edison with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Roxborough came out on top against Thomas A. Edison by a score of 60-49 on Friday.
Roxborough relied on the efforts of Stefan Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, and Sherrod Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Nelson scored 15 or more points. Sahir Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Tacony Academy Charter bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Roxborough, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Tacony Academy Charter was taken down by Roxborough 61-29 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Tacony Academy Charter, Naim Ferguson (who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
