The Gainesville Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 62-29 win over Battlefield on the road. The win was just business as usual for Gainesville, who after seven games remain undefeated this season.
Gainesville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grace Ellingson led the charge by scoring 20 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Ellingson. Madison McKenzie was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Gainesville pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Battlefield, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Gainesville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Osbourn at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Osbourn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Gainesville is ranked first). Battlefield won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hylton at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Hylton is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
