Basketball Game Preview: Mosinee Indians vs. Tomahawk Hatchets

Mosinee has gone 10-0 against Tomahawk recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mosinee Indians will look to defend their home court against the Tomahawk Hatchets at 7:15 p.m. Mosinee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.4 points per game this season.

Mosinee is headed into Friday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-49 heartbreaker at the hands of Northland Pines. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Indians came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Eagles are ranked 176th).

Despite their loss, Mosinee saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carson Balgord, who posted 12 points along with six boards and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Balgord is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Reinke, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, Tomahawk came up short against Lakeland on Tuesday, falling 55-34. The Hatchets haven't had much luck with the Thunderbirds recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Tomahawk's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mosinee, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.

Everything came up roses for Mosinee against Tomahawk when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 109-26 victory. In that contest, Mosinee amassed a halftime lead of 77-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
