Eastern had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Borden Braves, falling 11-1. If the Musketeers were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Braves when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Eastern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ivy Dixon, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
As for Borden, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games.
On Borden's side, Aubrey McMahon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. McMahon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Alayna Martin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chelbi Condon, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Eastern didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 22-5 loss against Lanesville on the 11th. As for Borden, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-0 win against New Washington on the 11th.
