Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Social Circle Redskins, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 49-14 loss at the hands of Rabun County. Social Circle has not had much luck with Rabun County recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Social Circle's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Crews, who rushed for 21 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 188 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jude Nelson, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Rabun County found their leader in underclassman Reid Giles, who rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Giles was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. Ty Truelove was another key contributor, throwing for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Rabun County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Tucker Buchanan and his two sacks.
Social Circle's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Rabun County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Social Circle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rabun County is on the road again on Friday and play against Whitefield Academy at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Whitefield Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
