3A Region IV District 27 recap September 10, 2013
Bandera's Alex Willoughby-Gonzales recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Region IV District 27 this season in his game against Devine last week. Willoughby-Gonzales' team defeated the Warhorses as he sprinted for 53 yards on the play and finished with 71 in all.
Wimberley moved up to 236 from 376 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Texans were able to make move up by defeating Giddings 26-14.
Hunter Lees was the best wideout in the league this week as Boerne fell to Medina Valley. Lees racked up 7 receptions for 165 yards. Bobby Johnson helped Boerne's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 41 yards.
Luke Jarosewski was the most successful running back in 3A Region IV District 27 this week. He ran for 234 yards on 23 carries as Navarro fell to the Panthers. Evan Deleon also contributed to the rushing game with 77 yards on the ground.
Joe Rodriguez put up the best numbers through the air as Bandera bested Devine. He finished with 13 completions for 244 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rodriguez's favorite target this week was Noah Nelson, who caught 6 passes for 156 yards.
He went 13-20 with 1 interceptions.
David Snelling provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Boerne fell to Medina Valley. He completed 14 passes for 230 yards and also ran for 22 yards.
Jarosewski was a force in the backfield as the Panthers beat San Antonio Christian.
Mike Dormady's team's Snelling and Lees have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Snelling has thrown for 521 yards this season, while Lees has 16 catches for 336 yards. Jarosewski from Navarro leads the league in rushing with 342 yards.
Fredericksburg took down San Antonio Memorial 57-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kyle Grona threw for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 31 yards in the win.
