Last Friday, Wake Christian Academy really took it to Harrells Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-30 victory on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Wake Christian Academy has managed all season.
Wake Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caroline Hall, who scored 11 points along with eight blocks and five rebounds. Hall continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abby Herzog, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Wake came up short against Ravenscroft on Tuesday and fell 58-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Wake in their matchups with Ravenscroft: they've now lost three in a row.
South Wake's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rebekah Hartzell, who scored 14 points, and Savannah Taylor who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Jones, who scored four points along with four steals.
Wake Christian Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. As for South Wake, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Wednesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Wake Christian Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having only drained 33.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like South Wake struggles in that department as they've made 45.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
