Softball Recap: Mckinney Boyd Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for McKinney Boyd, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They put the hurt on the McKinney Lions with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophia Vlahos made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, McKinney Boyd let Brayden Smith and Olivia Locke run wild. Smith scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Locke went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most runs Smith has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Addyson Lewis, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

McKinney Boyd's victory bumped their record up to 16-11. As for McKinney, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-24-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McKinney Boyd is set to square off against their familiar foe Allen at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, McKinney will take on rival Plano East at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
