Mekeel Christian Academy enjoyed a cozy 78-62 victory over Utica Academy of Science. Given Mekeel Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Utica Academy of Science is ranked 346th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Utica Academy of Science lost, one person who can't be blamed is Doneilious King j.r. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 38 points and 12 rebounds. King j.r has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazier Brown, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Mekeel Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Utica Academy of Science, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mekeel Christian Academy will square off against Kingdom Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Utica Academy of Science is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Carthage at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
