Payette hasn't had much luck against Weiser recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Monday, Payette didn't have quite enough to beat New Plymouth and fell 13-12. Even if the Pirates couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
M Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. V Walker was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Weiser waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Timberwolves a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Wolverines have won three contests by more than 11 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Madi Janicek was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Weiser let Alli Navarrete and Alyvia Goff run wild. Navarrete went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Goff went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Goff a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ahnala Britt, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Weiser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Weiser's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Payette, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Payette hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Weiser struggles in that department as they've averaged .424. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Payette suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Weiser in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
