The Midlothian Trojans will look to defend their home court against the Clover Hill Cavaliers at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Midlothian entered their tilt with L.C. Bird with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Midlothian skirted past L.C. Bird 43-40. The win was all the more spectacular given Midlothian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while L.C. Bird is ranked 23rd).
Clover Hill posted their biggest victory since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Richmond City School of the Arts 50-16 on the road. The win was just what Clover Hill needed coming off of a 61-19 defeat in their prior match.
Clover Hill found their leader in underclassman Olivia Kraft, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Kraft scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Elam, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Midlothian's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Clover Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Everything came up roses for Midlothian against Clover Hill when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 63-33 victory. Will Midlothian repeat their success, or does Clover Hill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
