In what's become a running theme this season, the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Challenger 68-37 at home. Given Lake Lure Classical Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Firebirds are ranked 638th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Lure Classical Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Barker out in front who scored eight points along with 12 steals. Barker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Staley, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Challenger lost, one person who can't be blamed is Riley Annis. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with two steals. Annis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.
Lake Lure Classical Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for Challenger, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Lake Lure Classical Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Challenger does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
