The Lakeview Vikings are on the road again on Friday and plays the Aquinas Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
After soaring to a 34-point win in their last game, Lakeview came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of York by a score of 67-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (62), Lakeview still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Aquinas' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 82-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln Christian.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Bryant Stouffer, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Andel, who scored 16 points.
Aquinas used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Lincoln Christian. And. Dillon Bohuslavsky made the most of the opportunity, scoring five points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Even though they lost, Aquinas were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Lakeview has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Aquinas, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Lakeview didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Aquinas in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 44-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakeview since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
