The Stanton Mustangs posted their biggest win yet this season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 56-30 margin over Lyons-Decatur Northeast. Given Stanton's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Lyons-Decatur Northeast is ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stanton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rebecca Stoddard, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stoddard has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelby Pohlman, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stanton's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Plainview at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Hopefully Plainview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Tekamah-Herman. Tekamah-Herman is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
