Softball Recap: North Branford Extends Winning Streak to Five

North Branford came tearing into Wednesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the East Haven Yellowjackets get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbirds, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lauren Vitarisi made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Adriana Hills was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Lexi Falcioni was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

North Branford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive games.

North Branford pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for East Haven, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

North Branford will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Yellowjackets: the pair will be back at it again later today.
