Holden is 2-8 against Lexington since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Holden Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Lexington Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Holden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
Holden's recent rough patch got a bit rougher after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 74-37 loss at the hands of Richmond. Holden was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-17.
Despite the defeat, Holden saw an underclassman step up: Kolby Hill scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kasyn Tevis, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Lexington put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Carrollton 66-26 at home. Given Lexington's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while Carrollton is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Holden's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Lexington, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
Holden and Lexington were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but Holden came up empty-handed after a 61-60 loss. Can Holden avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
