The biggest upset of the week belonged to Pittsburg, who took down 88th ranked Deer Valley, 42-29.
The connection went for 80 yards, the longest such play in Bay Valley this season.
Freedom's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dante Mayes threw for 191 and one touchdown and Joe Mixon had 80 yards receiving. On the ground Mixon chipped in 142 yards. Devontae Young helped Freedom's passing attack out by catching four balls for 75 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Nsimba Webster of the Wolverines is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1499. He has also thrown 20 touchdowns. On the ground, the Falcons' Mixon has rushed for 1033 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Darrell Daniels. The Freedom star has 26 catches for 492 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Freedom takes on second place Deer Valley. Freedom beat Antioch last week, while Deer Valley fell to the Pirates.
Two of the top units in Bay Valley will face off this week when Kevin Hartwig's team takes on Rich Woods' team. The Falcons' offense has recorded 322 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Wolverines have permitted only 174 on the year.
There should be lots of points scored when Freedom and Deer Valley face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Falcons comes in having scored 322 this season, while the Wolverines have scored 289. Freedom scored 55 points last week as it defeated the Panthers.
Heritage moved up to 378 from 435 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Patriots climbed the ranks as a result of beating Liberty 35-0.
