University is 4-0 against the Indians since March of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The University Hawks will be playing at home against the Bridgeport Indians at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in University's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matchups.
University put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past Weir, posting a 80-43 victory at home. Given University's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Red Riders are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
University relied on the efforts of Hannah Stemple, who scored 19 points along with five steals, and Ella Simpson, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Stemple is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Johnson, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Bridgeport came up short against the Buccaneers on Thursday and fell 44-37.

As for Bridgeport, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
University didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Indians in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 47-43 victory.
