On Friday, the Indian Land Warriors faced the Catawba Ridge Copperheads in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Indian Land's tough 64-38 loss to Catawba Ridge might stick with them for a while. Indian Land has struggled against Catawba Ridge recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Indian Land's loss came despite strong showings from Sincere Rasul and Sequel Patterson. Rasul scored 11 points along with three steals, while Patterson scored 14 points. Rasul is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played.
Catawba Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lance Barnes out in front who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Barnes hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyan Hager, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals.
Indian Land's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Catawba Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
Indian Land will head out on the road to challenge York at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. York will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Indian Land is ranked 16th). As for Catawba Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Northwestern at 7:45 p.m. Hopefully Northwestern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
