If the San Bernardino Cardinals were riding high off their 77-53 takedown of the Miller Rebels last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between San Bernardino and Moreno Valley wasn't particularly close, with San Bernardino falling 65-46. San Bernardino was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Moreno Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Despite the defeat, San Bernardino saw an underclassman step up: George McEwen scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ruelas, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
It was another big night for Jamall Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds for Moreno Valley. Another player making a difference was Alijah Maloid, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
San Bernardino's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Moreno Valley, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
San Bernardino won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pacific at 6:15 p.m. on January 16th. As for Moreno Valley, they will be playing at home against Valley View at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley View is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
