The Boylan Catholic Titans will square off against the River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Boylan Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Boylan Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Woodstock as they made off with a 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ari Ousley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She also put up three walks, which were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Lily Burke was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Janae Burke, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, River Ridge/Scales Mound didn't have quite enough to beat Pearl City on Thursday and fell 4-3. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Elizabeth Rife spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, River Ridge/Scales Mound saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Weis, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Anika Stadel was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
River Ridge/Scales Mound's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Boylan Catholic, their record is now 3-1.
