Oskaloosa took the match and then some with a 56-20 victory on Friday over Newton. Followers of Oskaloosa probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected three blowout victories.
Oskaloosa's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 35 points in the first half. Newton wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 7 to make it 35-7 heading into the break. Oskaloosa put the game away in the third quarter with 21 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense. The win bumped their record up to 5-1. The loss dropped Newton's record to 4-3.
Oskaloosa will stay at home next week against Pella at 7:30 PM. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a win streak alive as Oskaloosa skips in on five wins and Pella on six. As for Newton, they will face off against Grinnell.
