Lyons has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Belleview Christian Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lyons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Belleview Christian likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Lyons faced Front Range Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lyons took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 66-12 win over Front Range Christian. Fans of Lyons have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Miles Dumbauld continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 190 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes. Dumbauld really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Finn Oetting was in the mix too, providing Lyons with two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Lyons' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. Leading the way was Wyatt Fitzgerald and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Belleview Christian didn't have too much trouble with Gilpin County on the road on Saturday as they won 26-8. The victory was just what Belleview Christian needed coming off of a 54-6 loss in their prior matchup.
Belleview Christian can attribute much of their success to Jagga Sandhu, who rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 79 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Matthew Norman, who picked up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lyons' win was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Belleview Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Lyons against Belleview Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 58-18 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Belleview Christian's Davin Hunter, who rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Lyons to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
