The Hagerty Huskies will square off against the Lake Brantley Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hagerty comes in on eight and Lake Brantley on 12.
Hagerty is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Creekside.
Ella Verne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alexis Felker, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandra Beldowicz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Hagerty hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Creekside struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Lake Brantley got the win against Apopka on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-2. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.
Auriana Turner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Rylie Morris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Lake Brantley pushed their record up to 25-3 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Hagerty, their victory bumped their record up to 22-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hagerty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Lake Brantley struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
