The ED White Commanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell 57-49 to Deltona. While losing is never fun, ED White can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Wolves are ranked 113th).
ED White lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Karli Torres, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds. Torres hasn't dropped below three blocks for three straight games. Leandrea McCloud was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, ED White smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deltona only pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Deltona's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Iniya Reddicks led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five steals. Reddicks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shenell White, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
ED White's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Deltona, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-6.
ED White won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Senators at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Fletcher is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for Deltona, they will square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
