Fordham Prep managed a 48-43 win over Monsignor Farrell. Given Fordham Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Monsignor Farrell is ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fordham Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Kapfer led the charge by scoring 18 points. The game was Kapfer's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Panarella, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Fordham Prep pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Monsignor Farrell, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 1-5.
Fordham Prep will head out on the road to face off against Monsignor McClancy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monsignor Farrell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moore Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
