Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Water Valley's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Independence, Water Valley was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Palmer Dragons a 14-0 shutout. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 12 runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Mariah Wilson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Belle Belcher, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Water Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Water Valley has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. Palmer now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Water Valley will venture away from home to square off against Houlka at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palmer, they will challenge Bruce at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bruce has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.27 runs per game on average), something Palmer will no doubt try to take advantage of.
