This season hasn't been kind to the Chase Trojans, who are still winless after their fourth game. They took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bessemer City on Monday. Chase lost against Bessemer City in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 68-58 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Chase lost, one person who can't be blamed is Landon Barnes. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Barnes scored a full 53.1% of Chase's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Lipscomb, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Chase's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Bessemer City, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chase won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cherryville at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Cherryville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chase in North Carolina (Cherryville is ranked 239th, while Chase is ranked 590th). As for Bessemer City, they will be playing at home against Forestview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
