Desert Oasis hasn't had much luck against Centennial recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Diamondbacks will face off against the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. Desert Oasis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Desert Oasis proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 15) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Foothill 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Diamondbacks have posted since March 26th.
Ali Perkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Desert Oasis got a massive performance out of Arabella Carlin, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Carlin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vida Torres, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Desert Oasis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Centennial faced Palo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bulldogs fell 8-3 to the Panthers. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Hailey Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Valeria Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Desert Oasis has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
Desert Oasis suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Centennial in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Diamondbacks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
