Baseball Recap: Lakeview Charter Sets Scoring Season-High Against Community Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeview Charter). They put the hurt on the Community Charter Titans with a sharp 21-11 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won seven in a row.

Eric Perez made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Perez was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lakeview Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-3 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jacob Garcia was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diego Orozco, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Lakeview Charter's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Community Charter, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeview Charter will challenge Buckley at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are facing the Griffins at the right time seeing as the Griffins are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Community Charter, they will face off against Valley Oaks CES at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vanguards have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
