The West Milford Highlanders had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down Paramus 46-30 on Thursday. For West Milford, this counts as revenge for the 49-30 defeat Paramus walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
West Milford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Vacca, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Adison Arciniega was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
West Milford's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Paramus, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-1.
West Milford will be home for the holidays to greet Clifton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Paramus, they will head out on the road to face off against Indian Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
