The Tocoi Creek Toros will square off against the Buchholz Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Tocoi Creek came up short against Yulee and fell 6-1.
Meanwhile, Buchholz came into Tuesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past South Sumter 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bobcats have posted since February 28th.
Jurnee Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, Buchholz got a massive performance out of Jordyn Cooper, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Cooper has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliana Abraham, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Buchholz was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Buchholz now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Tocoi Creek, they dropped their record down to 11-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Buchholz's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Tocoi Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Buchholz, though, as they've been averaging only 2.3 strikeouts. Will Tocoi Creek keep running through batters, or will the Bobcats buck the trend?
Tocoi Creek couldn't quite get it done against Buchholz in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 as they fell 11-6. Can the Toros avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
