Baseball Recap: Catalina Foothills Has No Trouble Against Sunnyside

Catalina Foothills was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against the Sunnyside Blue Devils as Catalina Foothills made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Falcons have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Paden Good made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate Shoemaker, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Ganon Dwyer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Catalina Foothills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunnyside only posted a batting average of .087.

The victory made it two in a row for Catalina Foothills and bumps their season record up to 8-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-4 Buena (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.4% over those games). As for Sunnyside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Catalina Foothills wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-1 win against Desert View on the 20th. As for Sunnyside, they have also already played their next game, a 14-6 defeat against Buena on the 21st.
