Olathe is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Grand Valley a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Olathe Pirates will welcome the Grand Valley Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. Olathe has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Olathe saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 11-6 to Steamboat Springs.

Jeyden Estrada was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
Estrada wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Good, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Good a new career-high. Another was Bridger Vincent, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Grand Valley scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 21-11 to Weld Central. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly ten runs.
JJ Whiting stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Zalas Richards was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, Grand Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Olathe's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Grand Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Grand Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Olathe has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Grand Valley, though, as they've been averaging 12.1 hits. Given Olathe's sizable advantage in that area, Grand Valley will need to find a way to close that gap.
Olathe was able to grind out a solid win over Grand Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 9-4. Does Olathe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grand Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
