Chesterfield is 8-2 against Central since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chesterfield Golden Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Central Eagles at 6:15 p.m. Chesterfield will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
In what's become a running theme this season, Chesterfield gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. Everything went their way against Buford as Chesterfield made off with a 47-24 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-6.
Chesterfield can attribute much of their success to Terrahjah Robinson, who scored 15 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, and Kierra Diggs, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Diggs hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Jaeda Johnson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past North Central, posting a 58-22 victory at home. The victory was just what Central needed coming off of a 61-34 loss in their prior game.
Jordyn Griffin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kabreyia Covington, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds.
Chesterfield's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. As for Central, their victory ended a 13-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Chesterfield haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0.8 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've been averaging 26 turnovers per game. Given Chesterfield's sizeable advantage in that area, Central will need to find a way to close that gap.
Chesterfield beat Central 49-38 in their previous meeting on January 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chesterfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
