The Escondido Charter White Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Olympian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Escondido Charter is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Escondido Charter's game was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They managed a 20-14 victory over Classical Academy. The victory was just what Escondido Charter needed coming off of a 21-0 defeat in their prior matchup.
Escondido Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Patterson, who rushed for 125 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Classical Academy to a paltry 175 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Escondido Charter's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Joe Scates and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Olympian entered their tilt with Montgomery with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Olympian came out on top against Montgomery by a score of 22-13 on Friday. That's two games straight that Olympian has won by exactly nine points.
Olympian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Coby Dunn led the charge by rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown. Ceejay Clavier also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Escondido Charter's win pushed their record up to 4-6, while Olympian's bumped their own up to the opposite: 6-4.
