The North Canyon Rattlers struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Boulder Creek Jaguars had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. North Canyon took a 68-51 bruising from Boulder Creek. While losing is never fun, North Canyon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while Boulder Creek is ranked 18th).
Despite the loss, North Canyon still got an impressive performance from Wyatt Mackay, who scored 34 points along with four steals. Mackay scored a full 66.7% of North Canyon's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Andrew Bhesania, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds for Boulder Creek. The contest was Bhesania's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Newton, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
North Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Boulder Creek, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
North Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Desert Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Desert Mountain knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully North Canyon likes a good challenge. Boulder Creek will be home for the holidays to greet Perry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
