Dejalin Woodside made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Carver Birmingham's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-0-1 (and 10-12 when he doesn't). Woodside was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February.
In other batting news, Ezekiel Woodside was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Carver Birmingham: the team is 8-2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. Meanwhile, Wenonah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Pleasant Grove, falling 20-7. While the Dragons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 6-2 in the first period.
Wenonah saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah White, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another was Korey Brown, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Wenonah's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Carver Birmingham, their victory bumped their record up to 15-12-1.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Carver Birmingham has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .564. However, it's not like Wenonah struggles in that department as they've averaged .490. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
