After both having extra time off, the Lassen Grizzlies and the West Valley Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lassen will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Lassen will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating University Prep, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Grizzlies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Panthers last Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Grizzlies have posted since April 30, 2024.

Cadence Morris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lucy Olson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Delilah Delgado was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, West Valley made sure to put some runs up on the board against Yreka last Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Miners with a sharp 14-2 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Aubree Wertz and Cadynce Gippner made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wertz pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gippner tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. At bat, Wertz got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Gippner went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave Gippner a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddy Pemberton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
West Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lassen, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lassen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like West Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lassen skirted past West Valley 7-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
