Basketball Recap: Jayden Mckoin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Prairie View Academy over Word of God Academy

While it was all tied up 21-21 at halftime, Prairie View Academy was not quite Word of God Academy's equal in the second half on Monday. They took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Word of God Academy Force. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-42 back in November of 2024.

Prairie View Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden McKoin, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mason Tullos, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Prairie View Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Prairie View Academy dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Word of God Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

Prairie View Academy will venture away from home to challenge Wilkinson County Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Prairie View Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Word of God Academy, they will welcome Faith Training Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
